Legal
Terms of service
The agreement between you and Aviora Compass when you use our service.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of the Aviora Compass website at avioracompass.ca, the member dashboard, and related services (the “Service”). Aviora Compass (“Aviora Compass,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a business based in British Columbia, Canada.
By creating an account, buying a subscription, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy at avioracompass.ca/privacy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms removes a consumer right or legal protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
2. What Aviora Compass provides
Aviora Compass is an online planning service for autistic people and the families who support them in British Columbia. Depending on your plan, the Service lets you:
- Create profiles for the people you support, or for yourself as an autistic adult, and get personalized next steps for funding, school, and life planning.
- Track funding periods, IEP meetings, deadlines, and steps you have completed.
- Read plain-language guides, a glossary, and “What changed” updates about BC programs.
- Receive weekly or monthly plan emails and, if you choose, text alerts.
- Keep documents in a secure vault and share your household with people you invite (Family and Navigator plans).
- Message a family navigator, book a monthly video check-in, and get help preparing applications and school meetings (Navigator plan).
The features you can use depend on your plan, as described on our Pricing page. We may improve or change features over time. If a change significantly reduces what you pay for, section 9 applies.
3. Independent service, not a government program
Aviora Compass is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or run by the Government of British Columbia, the Government of Canada, any school district, or any funding program. Program names are used only to describe those programs.
4. General information, not professional advice
Aviora Compass gives general information and organizing tools. We do not provide medical diagnosis or treatment, legal representation, financial or tax advice, or professional educational assessments. Our family navigators help you understand programs and prepare for applications and meetings; they are not lawyers, clinicians, or financial advisors.
Program rules, amounts, eligibility, and deadlines change. We work to keep our information accurate and current, but we cannot guarantee it is complete or applies to your situation. Always confirm important details with the official program or a qualified professional before you rely on them.
Using Aviora Compass does not guarantee eligibility for funding, approval of an application, access to a service, or any particular outcome.
5. Your account
You must be at least 19 years old (the age of majority in British Columbia) to create an account or buy a subscription.
You agree to:
- Give accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date.
- Keep your password private and not share your login. Each person you invite to your household gets their own login.
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes.
- Tell us right away at hello@avioracompass.ca if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
You are responsible for activity in your account, except where it results from our own failure to meet our legal obligations.
Household sharing
On the Family and Navigator plans, the account owner can invite a partner, caregiver, or autistic adult to share the household. Everyone you invite can see and update the household’s profiles, plan, trackers, and documents. The account owner manages the subscription and can remove people at any time.
6. Information about other people
When you add information about a child or another person, including diagnosis details, IEPs, school records, or funding documents, you confirm you have the legal authority or permission to share it for these purposes. Do not upload information you are not authorized to share.
How we collect, use, and protect personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy governs how we handle personal information; these Terms govern your use of the Service.
7. Plans, prices, and payment
We offer three plans, each billed monthly or yearly in Canadian dollars:
- Essentials: $29 a month or $290 a year.
- Family: $59 a month or $590 a year.
- Navigator: $189 a month or $1,890 a year.
The current plans, features, and prices are shown on our Pricing page. The price, billing frequency, and any applicable taxes are shown at checkout before you pay, and the price shown at checkout is the price you are charged. We do not currently offer a free trial; your first payment is taken when you subscribe.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method at the start of each billing period until you cancel. Please keep your payment details up to date in Account → Manage billing. If a payment fails, Stripe will try again over the following days. If payment still cannot be collected, your plan may end.
8. Renewal and cancellation
Automatic renewal
Monthly plans renew every month and yearly plans renew every year, until you cancel. For yearly plans, we will email you a reminder before your plan renews, as BC law requires, with the renewal date and how to cancel.
How to cancel
Cancel any time in Account → Manage billing, or email hello@avioracompass.ca. There is no cancellation fee and you do not need to give a reason. You will see a confirmation when your cancellation is complete.
When you cancel, your plan stops renewing and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Your account and family information stay saved after your plan ends, so you can come back. To permanently remove your information, delete your account (section 13).
9. Changing plans, promotions, and price changes
You can upgrade, downgrade, or switch between monthly and yearly billing in Account → Manage billing. When you upgrade partway through a billing period, you pay only the difference for the rest of that period. When you downgrade, any unused amount is credited toward future bills.
If you move to Essentials, features from higher plans are paused: Essentials includes one family profile, so additional profiles are hidden (not deleted), and household sharing stops until you upgrade again.
We may offer promotional codes or special offers. Any conditions, such as how long a discount lasts and what you will pay afterward, will be shown before you use the offer.
If we raise the price of your plan or significantly reduce what it includes, we will email you at least 30 days before the change applies to you, and you can cancel without penalty before it takes effect.
10. Refunds
Except where the law requires or we state otherwise, payments are not refunded for unused time after a billing period has started. Monthly plans are not refunded for part of a month.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act or other laws. For example, the law may give you a right to cancel and receive a refund if required information was not provided, or if a yearly plan renews without the notice the law requires. Where a refund is required, we will give it within the time the law sets.
If you think you were charged in error, contact hello@avioracompass.ca and we will look into it promptly.
11. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the Service for fraud or anything unlawful.
- Try to access another person’s account or information, or our systems, without permission.
- Interfere with the security or operation of the Service, or upload harmful code.
- Copy, resell, or republish our guides, plans, or other content for commercial use without our permission.
- Upload information you are not authorized to share.
- Harass or abuse our staff, including family navigators.
- Present Aviora Compass as a government agency or a health-care provider.
12. Our content and your content
The Aviora Compass name, logo, website, software, guides, and other content belong to us or our licensors. While you have an account, we give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service as intended.
You keep ownership of the information and documents you add. You allow us to store, display, and process them only as needed to provide, secure, and support the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. Please keep your own copies of important original documents.
13. Ending your account
You can stop using the Service at any time. You can permanently delete your account in Account → Delete account. If you own the household, this also cancels your subscription immediately and deletes your household’s information, as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not refund the current billing period, except where the law requires.
We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms, fraud, unpaid amounts, security risks, or where the law requires. Where practical, we will contact you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. We may act immediately when needed to protect families, staff, or the Service. Ending an account does not remove any refund or other right you have under the law.
14. Links and outside services
The Service links to government programs, organizations, and other websites we do not control. A link is not an endorsement. Please check important information directly with the organization before relying on it.
15. Availability
We aim to keep Aviora Compass available and working well, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, technical problems, or outages at our service providers may occasionally affect access. We will not use this section to avoid a legal obligation to provide the Service or a refund.
16. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Aviora Compass is not responsible for decisions made by government agencies, schools, funding programs, or other third parties, or for outcomes that depend on them.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our responsibility for our own negligence, misconduct, or breach of these Terms or our privacy obligations, where the law does not allow it to be excluded, or limits any right you have under consumer protection law.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service or the law changes. The current version is always posted on this page. If we make a significant change that affects your subscription, such as a price increase or a reduction in what your plan includes, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel without penalty. Changes never override your rights under the law.
18. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about the Service, billing, or these Terms, contact us at hello@avioracompass.ca. We aim to reply within two business days, or one business day on the Navigator plan.
For privacy questions, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@avioracompass.ca.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using a right or remedy available to you as a consumer, including going to court.
20. Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, it will be limited as little as necessary, and the rest of the Terms will continue to apply.
These Terms, together with your subscription details at checkout and our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and Aviora Compass about the Service.
